Style Pile

Fellow blogger and iVillage contributer, Charmed Valerie, called several of us out on Twitter for a Style Pile Challenge. I felt like the kid in class that was minding my own business and then the teacher calls on me....LOL! What is a Style Pile? It is essential items that define your style. This was quite a challenge for me. My style has changed since becoming a mother nearly eight years ago. However, this helped me really define my current style while having fun! Thanks for the challenge Valerie! So here it goes!

  • Define your style.

My style is simple, classic and feminine. As I mature, my style includes more accessories.

  • What inspires your style
Fashion bloggers, magazines, movies, music, even food. Colorful food on a plate is like a painter's palette. I find inspiration just about anywhere.

  • Tell us something about you that most people don’t know (that you’re willing to admit).
I was trained on etiquette and protocol by Dorothea Johnson of The Protocol School of Washington. I'm an American, but prefer the continental dining style.

  • Red Sign - Keep Calm Carry On. As a recovering perfectionist, I love this phrase. It's a little mantra that gets me through the day.
  • Shirt - I've learned the magic of the classic white shirt. I have over 10! When I can't decide what to wear, it's easy to add accessories and still look put together.
  • Glasses - I wear prescribed glasses and contacts. Depending on an outfit or my mood, glasses influence my choice of what to wear.
  • Treble clef - I like different genres of music. It is amazing how a song can influence my outfit/accessories for the day. Right now I'm listening to Diana Krall's Quiet Nights.
  • Vera Bradley - I remember receiving my first VB wallet from a friend years ago. Over the years, I have become quite a fan. The visor and flips are a sprinkle of femininity to a simple summer outfit.
  • Books - There are times when an outfit is described in a book and I can't wait to attempt pulling it together. Some books ease my mind to focus on my style.
  • Vibrams - The freaky creepy shoes in the pic. I love these! Not only do they inspire me to workout, but they also inspire me to wear chic workout clothes. If I'm gonna sweat, I want to look a little cute!
  • EVO - I don't leave home without it! It's sleek, classy and is definitely a very smart phone. It keeps me sane and organized!
  • Nail polish - I love a neutral nail color for everyday. Painted nails/toes make me feel complete.

  2. Neat challenge. Love the inclusion of the Vera, OBVIOUSLY! I just recently saw those foot like running shoes. They are kooky, but I've heard they're great. How do they feel? Not sure I could tolerate that much stuff b/t my toes. Cool style pile...not that I would expect anything less from my stylish friend!
